Location: West Midlands (Hybrid 3 office days)

About the client and role

Our client an automotive technology leader is in search of a Senior Compute Optimisation Engineer. You will be tasked with collaborating with colleagues dedicated to optimising resource usage to deliver operational Use Cases that support business decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Always be seeking opportunities for cost optimization
• Providing expertise in AWS Cloud cost monitoring and optimization
• Streamlining large databases and associated ETL pipelines, handling structured and unstructured data from various sources
• Analysing data to generate statistical insights across production, financials, customer forecasts, and product data
• Utilizing multiple programming languages to transform big data into optimized datasets
• Translating technical data into actionable insights for stakeholders
• Contributing to the development of optimized interactive dashboards with real-time data visualization
• Understanding program and product delivery phases to provide expert analysis throughout the lifecycle
• Integrating disparate data feeds using both new and legacy technologies to create scalable datasets
• Overseeing the creation and monitoring of compute costs, taking corrective action when necessary
• Ensuring documentation and procedures align with internal practices and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
• Optimizing systems for all hardware and technology resources

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or Systems/Software Engineering or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Systems, or equivalent Electronic Discipline
• 5 years of experience in data engineering or optimization supporting high-volume manufacturing operations
• 5 years of experience in multinational organizations with international, cross-functional teams
• Expertise across multiple SQL platforms and advanced proficiency in Python and PySpark platforms, with demonstrated capability to optimize data transfers and compute utilization
• Specific expertise in SQL and database administration tuning development
• Experience in AWS Cloud optimization and cost modelling
• Skills in performance optimization to modify Python/R/SQL code and reduce data transfers and compute utilization
• Proficiency in configuring cost monitoring and alarm tools
• Experience in developing data mining methods and tools
• Knowledge of data lineage, transformation, and quality analysis
• Experience in Data Pipeline Architecture
• Experience in working within an integrated data teams, with strong business analysis
• Have great attention to detail with the ability to identify deviations from defined equipment standards
• Able to work efficiently under tight deadlines to meet business requirements
• Highly self-motivated, target-focused, and flexible in approach
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
